Eco-Friendly Speakers

If you haven't been to our site before this is Green Tea Thursday were we highlight a company/product/site that focuses on contributing to the "Go Green" movement.  Having Green Tea Thursday is our way of bringing this awesome things to you just in case you missed it. If you have seen a product that you would like us to review that you have created or that you just thought let us know and we will try our best to add it.

This week the company we are highlighting is OrigAudio they are the inventors of Fold and Play eco-friendly speakers. These speakers are so awesome for so many reasons they are foldable you fold them to use them and you can fold them again to put them away. They are self-powered no batteries or wall outlet needed you just plug in whatever music player you have into the jack and you have yourself a mini sound system to go! This is perfect for travel, picnics, or when you just don't want to share your headset this is a cool alternative and it's great for the planet, you can't beat that!

When you visit their site make sure to check out there new product where you can turn any object into a speaker, just pure genius in my opinion!!!

Green Tea Thursday

green-teaWe are a family of 5, 2 parents, 3 kids, and if you are a counter of pets, we have 1 dog, 2 cats, and multiple koi and goldfish in our pond outside!  My husband and I are striving to have our children be conscious of the environment, and of what goes in and out to help our world be a better place to live in.  Sounds really magnanimous, right?  We aren’t perfect at it, we don’t know everything, and we also had to start with very small steps in order to even get where we are …which isn’t far in the sense of going green when there are so many options and ways to do so.  Earth Day  has come and gone, and if ever there was more reason to start doing a part, even if it is a little part, it is now!  Even more so after all the recent news coverage on how going green can help the environment, your household and affect others!
I am one that has to do things a little bit at a time, being how expensive things can be.  If a lightbulb is out, then change it to an environmentally-friendly lightbulb.  You can get them at any hardware and supply store, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.  Instead of using paper towels, purchase a bulk supply of cleaning cloths and wash cloths that you would then launder, saving on paper products.  I haven’t done certain things, such as green roofing, but it takes small steps that build up to a greater cause, not always going big and expensive right at the starting gate.
Three starters for you this week to begin your process of being more green and healthy.
1.)  Turn off lights as you leave your rooms, don’t leave them on.

2.)  Plug in all your computers, appliances(not the refrigerator :) ) and tv’s to a power-source that you can power down at the end of the night.  AMazing how just these first two will save   on your electric bill every year!

3.)  Start utilizing washcloths and hand cloths instead of paper towels.  One less thing for the landfills!
I leave you with something fun.  A sight I found called http://www. freecylce.com.  We all have things we think of tossing out when we get a replacement or if we have two of something, or quite frankly, we just don’t want it anymore.  Rather than throwing it out or placing it in a box in the garage to rust or fall apart, this site allows for others all around the country to reuse and recycle what others don’t.  You have heard the motto that “One person’s trash is another’s treasure”, and here is the place to see that motto come to life!
Until next week, think green!
